Tigers are the largest wild cats in the world and are found in parts of Asia, from the Russian Far East to Southeast Asia. Their distinctive black stripes on orange fur provide camouflage in dappled forest light — the pattern breaks up the animal's outline so prey cannot easily see it approaching. No two tigers have identical stripes. Tigers are strong swimmers and often cool off in rivers and lakes.
Coloring ideas: color the tiger's fur a warm burnt orange with bold black stripes. Add a white or cream color to the cheeks, chest, and the inner parts of the legs. The dense jungle around it looks best with many shades of green — dark for the ferns at the bottom, bright lime for fresh leaves above.
For younger kids, focus on the tiger's large body shape and fill it with orange. Older kids will enjoy coloring every individual stripe a consistent bold black and then adding the variety of greens in the surrounding vegetation to create a dramatic jungle scene.
