How We Make Our Pages
Every coloring page on ColorNest goes through a defined creation and review process before it is published. Here is exactly how that works.
Step 1 — Subject selection
We plan pages around themes and age groups based on what parents, teachers, and coloring fans actually search for. Subject matter is always age-appropriate and avoids trademarked characters, brand logos, and anything that could be considered harmful to children.
Step 2 — AI-assisted illustration
We use AI image generation tools to create the initial illustration. This allows us to produce a large, varied library of original artwork without relying on clip art or licensed stock images. Every image is generated from scratch for ColorNest — we do not repurpose or resell artwork from other sources.
Step 3 — Editorial review checklist
Every generated image is reviewed by a member of the ColorNest editorial team against this checklist:
| Check | Criteria |
|---|---|
| Clean lines | Outlines are smooth, clear, and free of noise or artifacts. No stray marks that would confuse a child trying to color within the lines. |
| Age-appropriate | Subject matter, complexity, and style match the listed age group. Toddler pages have thick, simple outlines; adult pages may have fine detail. |
| No trademarked characters | No resemblance to proprietary cartoon, movie, or game characters. All subjects are generic and original. |
| No harmful content | Nothing violent, scary (beyond age-appropriate Halloween themes), sexually suggestive, or otherwise inappropriate for the target audience. |
| Print quality | The image renders clearly at 8.5 × 11 in on a standard inkjet or laser printer. Lines are thick enough to be visible and colorable. |
| Metadata accuracy | The page title, description, age label, difficulty, and tags correctly describe what is on the page. |
Step 4 — Format and publish
Approved images are exported as a high-resolution PNG for print, a PDF sized to US Letter, and a WebP preview for the website. The page is then published with its title, description, and coloring tips.
Ongoing review
If a published page is found to have an issue — a stray line, a metadata error, or a concern flagged by a reader — we correct or remove it promptly. Contact us at hello@colornest.com to report any concern.
