Sheep have a thick coat of wool that grows all year round and is sheared, or cut, once a year — usually in spring. A single sheep can produce enough wool to make several jumpers. Sheep are herd animals and feel safer in a group; a lone sheep can become very anxious. Baby sheep are called lambs and can walk within just a few minutes of being born.
Coloring ideas: leave the big woolly body white or color it a very pale cream for a realistic look. Color the small face, ears, and legs a warm beige or light tan. The grass can be bright green and the cloud a soft sky blue or white against a pale blue sky.
Toddlers love the big fluffy cloud shape of the body — it is perfect for a white or cream crayon on colored paper for a fun variation. Try counting the legs together as you color!
