Cows are one of the most common farm animals in the world and give us milk that can be turned into cheese, butter, and ice cream. A female cow is called a cow, a male is called a bull, and a baby is called a calf. Cows have four stomachs that work together to help them digest the tough grass they eat, a process called rumination — that is why you sometimes see cows chewing even when they are not eating fresh grass.
Coloring ideas: try black and white spots on the body for a classic Holstein look, or use brown and white patches for a Jersey cow. Color the meadow grass a bright spring green, the daisy petals sunny yellow with a white center, and the sky a light blue with fluffy white clouds.
Toddlers will love coloring the big round body with bold crayons. Try naming the colors aloud as your child picks them up — great for learning color words! Older siblings can add grass blades and tiny flowers along the bottom of the page.
