Farmers work very hard every single day of the year caring for their animals and crops. They get up very early — often before sunrise — to feed and check on their animals. A farm with cows, pigs, and chickens together is called a mixed farm, and each animal provides something different: cows give milk, pigs are often raised for meat, and chickens give eggs.
Coloring ideas: color the farmer's dungarees a denim blue with a bright red or checked shirt underneath, and a golden straw hat. Give the cow classic black and white spots, color the pig pink, and make the chicken golden yellow or reddish-brown.
Toddlers love naming each animal as you color. Ask: which animal says moo, oink, and cluck? It is a fun way to build vocabulary while coloring the different creatures surrounding the farmer.
