Brachiosaurus was one of the tallest dinosaurs that ever lived, with an estimated height of up to 13 meters (about 43 feet) — tall enough to look into a four-story window. It lived approximately 150 million years ago during the Late Jurassic period in what is now North America and possibly Africa. Unlike most large dinosaurs, its front legs were longer than its back legs, which gave it an upward-sloping posture like a giraffe, allowing it to reach the highest tree canopies.
Coloring ideas: dinosaur colors are unknown, so any palette works. A classic approach is a warm grey-green body with slightly darker oval spots. Try a soft moss green or sage tone for the body and a brighter yellow-green for the belly. Color the tall tree trunk a warm brown and the leaves at the top a lush dark green. The ferns and ground plants can be medium green, and the sky can be a light blue with white cloud outlines.
Younger kids can color the enormous body in one solid color and the tree in another. Older kids can practice making the legs slightly darker than the body sides to show the shadow underneath the dinosaur's massive belly.
