Goldfish are one of the oldest fish kept as pets, with records of people raising them going back about a thousand years in China. Despite a popular myth, goldfish actually have a memory of several months, not just a few seconds. They can even recognize their owners.
Coloring ideas: color the goldfish bright orange or golden yellow, and shade the scales a slightly darker orange at the edges for a shimmery look. The bowl can stay clear white or be tinted pale blue for a watery feeling. Color the pebbles different shades — purple, green, and pink pebbles make the bowl look cheerful.
Toddlers can practice coloring in circles for the bubbles and the pebble shapes. Older kids can try blending two shades of orange on the fish's body to make it look round and glossy.
