Cactus and Succulents in Pots Coloring Page

Six different succulents and cacti sit in decorative pots: a tall saguaro, a prickly pear with flowers, a barrel cactus, a hanging geometric terrarium with trailing string-of-pearls, a spiky aloe, and a small jade plant.

Cacti and succulents store water in their thick stems or fleshy leaves, which lets them survive months without rain. The tall saguaro cactus of the American Southwest can live over 150 years and only grows its first arm after about 75 years. Succulents like the jade plant and aloe vera are popular houseplants worldwide. Aloe vera gel — the clear liquid inside its thick leaves — has been used for thousands of years to soothe burns and skin irritation.

Coloring ideas: give the saguaro a muted blue-green and the prickly pear a brighter lime green. The rosette succulent at its base looks great in dusty sage green or even purple-tipped grey. Color the pots in warm terracotta, white, or patterned geometric colors to match each plant's personality. The hanging geometric terrarium can be silver or gold.

Try giving each pot its own distinct color — terracotta, blue, white with patterns — so the arrangement looks like a curated shelf display. This page is a good exercise in using different shades of green to tell six different plants apart.
