Penguins with Santa Hats on Ice Coloring Page

Two adorable penguins stand on a floating piece of ice surrounded by water, both wearing fluffy Santa hats, one waving a flipper in greeting and the other hugging a small wrapped gift, with large snowflakes and faceted ice crystal shapes drifting around them.

Penguins are found only in the Southern Hemisphere, primarily in Antarctica, and none live at the North Pole where Santa's workshop is traditionally imagined. Despite this, penguins have become popular Christmas imagery because of their association with cold and ice. There are 18 species of penguin, and while most live in cold climates, some species like the African penguin and the Galapagos penguin actually live in warm or tropical areas.

Coloring ideas: penguins are classic black and white — color the back, head, and flippers black and leave the belly white. The Santa hats can be bright Christmas red with a white fluffy band and pompom. The ice floe the penguins stand on looks great in pale blue or aqua. Give the snowflakes a light blue or leave them white, and color the ice crystals pale purple or silver for a magical sparkling effect.

This simple, cheerful image is perfect for younger kids because the main shapes — two round penguin bodies — are large and easy to color. Older kids can challenge themselves to add tiny details like patterns inside the Santa hats or give each snowflake its own slightly different shade of blue.
