Ice Cream Cone with Sprinkles Coloring Page

A big, boldly outlined double-scoop ice cream cone with oval sprinkles dotting both round scoops and a waffle-pattern cone below — simple and perfectly sized for little hands.

Ice cream is one of the world's most popular frozen treats. The basic idea of mixing cream, sugar, and flavorings and then freezing the mixture while stirring has been around for centuries, with early versions enjoyed by royalty in 17th-century Europe. The waffle cone was reportedly popularized at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, when an ice cream vendor ran out of dishes and a neighboring waffle seller rolled his waffles into cones to help out. The United States produces more ice cream than any other country, with Americans eating an average of about 20 pounds per person each year.

Coloring ideas: make each scoop a different flavor — try pink for strawberry and brown for chocolate, or yellow for banana and mint green for mint chip. Color the sprinkles in lots of bright colors: red, blue, yellow, orange, and purple. Give the cone a warm golden-tan color for the waffle pattern.

This is a great first coloring page for very young children — the shapes are large and the outlines are thick and easy to stay inside. Show toddlers how to color in one direction with their crayon (left to right or top to bottom) to fill each shape evenly.
