Dolphin Jumping Over Waves Coloring Page

A sleek dolphin arcs gracefully through the air above cresting ocean waves, water droplets spraying in its wake, with a bright sun and fluffy clouds floating in the open sky above.

Dolphins are highly intelligent marine mammals that breathe air through a blowhole on top of their heads. They are famous for leaping out of the water — called breaching — which may help them navigate, communicate, or simply play. Dolphins live in groups called pods and use a system of clicks and whistles to communicate. The bottlenose dolphin is the most well-known species and is found in oceans around the world.

Coloring ideas: color the dolphin's back a medium to dark grey and leave the belly a creamy white for the classic bottlenose look. Color the curling waves a bright ocean blue with white foam at the crest. The sun in the upper corner can be golden yellow with orange rays, and the sky a cheerful light blue.

For younger kids, the smooth dolphin body is very easy to fill with a single color. Older kids can try using two shades of blue for the waves — lighter on the upper crest and darker below — to give the water real depth and movement.
